Salukis Ready to Compete at MVC Championship

WATERLOO, IL. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team is set to compete at the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Championship Tournament. The tournament will take place Sunday-Tuesday, April 16-18 at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois.

The Salukis lineup will feature Janie Samattiyadeekul, Kylee Vaughan, Ella Overstreet, Ayanna Habeel, and Secilia Ho. Morgan Gindler will serve as the Salukis alternate.

Janie Samattiyadeekul, Junior
Ranks first on the team and 16th in the MVC in scoring with a 76.80 scoring average. Has five top-25 and three top-10 finishes this season. She finished tied for fifth place at South Alabama and fifth place out right at the Saluki Invitational. Her best score was 5 strokes over par at Missouri State.

Kylee Vaughan, Sophomore
Ranks second on the team and 37th in the Valley in scoring with a 73.83 scoring average. Her best finish this season came at the Saluki Invitational where she finished tied for 18th. Her lowest round score is 71.

Ella Overstreet, Freshman
Ranks third on the team and 38th in the MVC in scoring with a 78.84 scoring average. Has two top-25 finishes this season. Best finish was a tie for 13th at Texas State and tied for 23rd at the Saluki Invitational.

Ayanna Habeel, Senior
Ranks fourth on the team and 44th in the Valley in scoring with a 79.41 scoring average. Her lowest round score is 75. She finished tied for 14th at the Saluki Invitational.

Secilia Ho, Senior
Ranks fifth on the team and 51st in the MVC in scoring with a 80.30 scoring average. Has three top-25 finishes this season. She tied for 18th at the Little Rock Golf Classic where she shot a 69 in round 2, tied for 18th at Texas State, and tied for 25th at the Islander Classic.

Morgan Gindler, Sophomore (Alternate)
Ranks sixth on the team and 61st in the Valley in scoring with a 82.90 scoring average. Her lowest round score is 76. Her best finish came at the Saluki Invitational where she finished tied for 23rd place.

Tournament Information

Participating Teams
All 12 MVC institutions will compete in the championship. The 12 teams include Southern Illinois, Belmont, Missouri State, Illinois State, UIC, Bradley, Murray State, Drake, Evansville, Indiana State, Northern Iowa, and Valparaiso.

Course Information
Annbriar Golf Course is a par 72 measuring 6,176 yards and was opened in 1993. Participants will be tested by the challenging and scenic course located just outside of St. Louis.
