Carbondale, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Salukis are back at home this weekend to host Murray State for the final home series of the regular season. On Saturday, the Salukis will honor seniors Aubree DePron, Kerrigan Gamm, and Tori Schullian for Senior Day with a recognition taking place following the game.

Quick Hits

SIU dropped its midweek matchup with Missouri State on Wednesday by a final score of 3-4. It was the fourth-straight game decided by just one-run for Southern.
Jackie Lis was responsible for all three Salukis runs on Wednesday as she hit three home runs to tie her own single-game record (3). Lis also totals 15 home runs on the season which is the most ever in Southern Illinois softball history.
The Salukis enter the weekend with a .301 batting average and .388 on-base percentage, both mark the second-highest in the Valley.
Southern will go for their most wins at home since the 2021 season when they went 19-4. The Dawgs are currently 18-2 at home this year.
SIU enters the weekend at 30-14 (11-10 MVC) and sit in sixth place with six more regular season games.

Series Rundown

The Racers enter the series at 31-16 (15-6 MVC) after winning three in a row including a pair of shutout wins over Belmont and Indiana State
In the 2023 MVC Preseason Poll, Murray State was selected just ahead of the Salukis coming in at second place.
Murray State currently leads the MVC with a team-ERA of 2.13 as well as allowing a Valley-low 78 walks on the season.
Hannah James and Jenna Veber both come into the series with sub 2.00 ERAs with James leading the MVC at 1.38 with a 14-5 record.
The Salukis lead the all-time series 10-4-1 over Murray State with last year's game at Murray ending a 6-6 tie after eight innings. The game was called due to rain after the Salukis came back from down 6-1 to tie it in the sixth and force extras.

Game one of the series will begin at 4 PM on Friday afternoon with Senior Day beginning at 2 PM Saturday and the series finale taking place on Sunday at noon.
