CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team (6-10, 1-5 MVC) will look to turn things around on Sunday at 2 p.m. when it hosts Evansville at the Banterra Center.Â

QUICK HITS
- Southern Illinois holds a record of 6-10 overall and 1-5 in Missouri Valley Conference play heading into Sunday's game vs. Evansville.
- In their last game, the Salukis' second-half comeback effort fell short, as SIU lost, 64-63, against Indiana State. Southern at one point trailed by 22 points. Laniah Randle posted 22 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season. 10 of the 15 rebounds were offensive boards.
- Southern has been held to fewer than 65 points in three-straight games, and in five of the team's six MVC games to start league play.
- SIU is eighth in scoring offense, averaging 65.0 points-per-game. Defensively, Southern is fourth in the MVC (67.7).

LEADING THE SALUKIS
- Laniah Randle is third in the MVC in scoring (17.6), tied for second in rebounding (8.7), 11th in field goal percentage (.493), ninth in total blocks (13), and is fifth in total steals (33). Randle has had at least 20 points in eight games this season. In those games, SIU is 4-4.Â
- Randle is tied for 61st in the NCAA in points and tied for 69th in rebounds-per-game. The junior forward also has six double-doubles on the year, which is tied for 49th in the country.
- In all of 2022-23, SIU had six total double-doubles. The Salukis already have eight as a team this season. Randle has provided six of them, while Hughes has the other two.Â
- Jaidynn Mason is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.5 points to go along with 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 steals-per-game. Mason posted seven steals in Friday's loss, which ties a career-high.Â
- Quierra Love is second in the MVC and is tied for 37th in the NCAA in steals-per-game (2.56). Love has posted two or more steals in nine games, and has at least four steals in five games. The senior is now eighth all-time in career steals (175) at SIU, and is two away from tying D.D. Plab for seventh in program history.
- Love is tied for sixth in the Valley in assists-per-game (3.9), and is tied for ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6).Â
- Seairra Hughes is tied for sixth in the MVC in blocks, with 14 on the year. Hughes had two blocks in Saturday's loss at Bradley, her fifth game this season with multiple blocked shots.Â
- The Salukis' roster is made up of three seniors, five juniors, one sophomore, and three freshmen. SIU's three seniors are Love, Adrianna Katcher, and Sydney Prochaska.Â
LOOKING AT EVANSVILLE
- The Purple Aces are 2-15 overall and 0-6 in MVC play. They have lost eight straight games.Â
- In its last game, Evansville fell at Missouri State, 90-55, on Friday. The Aces have given up 90 points in back-to-back games and in seven games this season.
- Maggie Hartwig led the Aces with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field in the loss.Â
- On the year, Evansville is 10th in the Valley in scoring (64.1) and 12th in scoring defense (84.2).
- Kynidi Mason Striverson leads the Aces and ranks seventh in the conference in points-per-game (13.9).
- Robyn Scherr-Wells is Evansville's head coach, and is in her third season in the role.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Salukis are 40-28 all-time vs. Evansville. SIU has won each of the last 12 meetings against the Aces.
- This will be the 69th meeting between the two programs.
- Evansville's last win against SIU was on Feb. 17. 2017, in Carbondale (74-61).
