Preview | Saluki Women's Golf takes on MVC Championships Sunday

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki women's golf team will compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships beginning Sunday in Waterloo, Ill. The tournament was originally scheduled to occur through Tuesday, but a forecast of inclement weather has changed the schedule. The teams will now play 36 holes on Sunday and wrap up the tournament with 18 on Monday.
The Salukis have finished ninth out of nine in the last two tournaments and will look to play their best golf at the best time.Â
The Salukis will send Janie Samattiyadeekul, Allie Santos, Kayla Sayyalinh, Calli Smith and Secilia Ho to compete.
Samattiyadeekul has been the most consistent golfer for Southern during the 2023-24 season. She is averaging 76.17 shots per round and has tallied three top-ten finishes. She is seeking her third straight finish on the MVC All-Tournament team.
Calli Smith earned a spot in the starting five after finishing second on the team at the Brickyard Collegiate, where she tied her season-low round of 76 in round three.
