FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Women's NCAA Championships start today, and Southern Illinois swim and dive will be represented at the national event by a pair of swimmers as Celia Pulido and Olivia Herron will compete in a combined five events between Thursday and Saturday.

"Celia and Olivia have worked all year to get to this meet, and are looking forward to the opportunity to race against the very best swimmers in the world. Pulido and Herron last competed in the Missouri Valley Championships from February 26-March 1, where SIU as a team was the event runner-up.
Herron ended up collecting six gold medals in finals events, doing so in the 200-yard IM, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and as part of the 400-yard medley relay, 800-yard freestyle relay, and 200-yard medley relay teams. She also reset a school, MVC, or MVC Championship record eight different times, all on her way to being named First-Team All-MVC.
Pulido had as just a successful week as her Saluki teammate. The senior finished in first place in six finals events: 200-yard medley relay, 800-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, and the 200-yard backstroke. She broke six different sets of records and ended the weekend as First-Team All-MVC and by being named the MVC Swimmer of the Year.

Herron and Pulido will partake in five events starting on Thursday and running through Saturday.
Herron will be up first, competing in the 200-yard IM on Thursday. Prelims are at 10 a.m. PST and finals are at 6:03 p.m. PST. She will compete again on Friday in the 100-yard breaststroke, with prelims and finals being the same time as on Thursday. Finally, Herron's run will end on Saturday in the 200-yard breast, once again at 10 a.m. PST and 6:03 p.m. PST.
As for Pulido, her first event will be on Friday when she takes part in the 100-yard backstroke prelims and finals. She will then compete in the 200-yard backstroke prelims and finals on Saturday.
