Women's Tennis Defeats Evansville in Conference Opener

EVANSVILLE, IND. - The Salukis picked up their first win in Missouri Valley Conference play, with a 6-1 victory over the Purple Aces of Evansville.
SIU started off the match sweeping all three doubles matches as junior Maria Blanco and senior Tana Trapani defeated the Ace's Jetton and Peyton (8-0) at the No. 1 duo spot, while junior Zuzana Palovic teamed up with junior Zoya Honarnmand to knock off Evansville's Krodel and Baas at the No. 2 doubles spot.
The Salukis continued to pick up momentum through the day as they posted five singles wins at the No.2 through No. 6 singles spots. Amanda Taillefer defeated Beth Peyton at the No. 2 singles spot, while Tana Trapani returned to the Saluki lineup with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory over Evansville's Erica Baas at the No. 3 spot.
The Salukis will be back in action on March 29, when their first home match of the year by welcoming Memphis to the SIU Tennis Courts.
