OMAHA, NEB. - The Salukis got off to a rough start as they trailed 1-0 after dropping the doubles point, but thanks to exceptional play from their entire lineup in singles play, SIU was able to come away with the 4-3 victory over the Creighton Bluejays this afternoon.
The Salukis came away with four wins in singles competition, as junior Maria Blanco led the Dawgs with her (6-3, 6-3) victory over Katie Chiu at the No. 1 singles spot. The bottom half the of the SIU lineup played a big part in the Salukis third MVC win of the season, as Zuzana Palovic, Laura Bredniak, and Joana Hornestam all posted wins for Southern at the No.4-6 singles spots.
With today's win the Salukis improve to 5-9 overall and 3-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
The Salukis wrap up their weekend when they travel to Des Moines, IA. to face the Drake Bulldogs tomorrow afternoon.
