Missouri State knocks off women's tennis 6-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Southern Illinois women's tennis team continued to struggle as they lost to Missouri State 6-1. The loss drops the Salukis overall record to 3-8 and 0-2 in MVC play. Meanwhile the Bears improve to 4-9 and 1-1.
The only wins for the Salukis came by default as Kathleen Maher was given the win in the number six singles match and with Amanda Taillefer in number three doubles.
The number one doubles match came down to the wire, but Maria Blanco and Zuzana Palovic fell just short as they lost 9-8 (3). Blanco also had a close game against Nora Kuruc in the number one singles spot, but was unable to pull out the win.
The Salukis also dropped their match Friday at Southeast Missouri State 7-0. Zoya Honarmand and Laura Bredniak had the only win of the day at number two doubles defeating Juliana Negosek and Julia Masotti 9-7.
The Salukis travel to face Wichita State tomorrow at 10 a.m.
