All-Time Series vs. the Lady Bears
Missouri State leads the all-time series with the Salukis, 53-20. SIU sports just a 6-26 all-time record at Missouri State, as Southern's last win in Springfield came on Sept. 26, 2016, when Southern rallied from a first-set loss to defeat the Lady Bears in five sets. That loss was the last defeat for the Lady Bears in Valley play, as Missouri State has rattled off 29-straight conference victories since it opened the 2016 season with back-to-back losses to Wichita State and SIU.
Scouting the Lady Bears
Missouri State (21-5, 13-0 MVC) comes into Saturday's match with a 29-match winning streak in conference play. The first-place Lady Bears currently rank in the top-five nationally in digs per set (3rd, 18.95/set), team assists (4th, 1,393), team digs (3rd, 1,933) and team kills (4th, 1,459). All-American Lily Johnson is second in the nation in both points (512) and total attempts (1,345) and leads the conference in kills per set (4.41). Libero Emily Butters leads the defensive efforts, as she ranks third in the nation with 573 total digs.
Playing her best against the best
Andrea Estrada comes into Saturday's match against Missouri State having recorded double-doubles in seven-straight matches against the Lady Bears, including 20 kills and 11 digs in SIU's five-set win at Missouri State on Sept. 26, 2016. The two-time All-MVC selection tallied 10 kills and 13 digs the last time the two programs tangled on Oct. 7 and has totaled 111 kills (3.46 kills/set) and 94 digs (2.93 digs/set) in eight career matches against the Lady Bears.
Having a career year
Ashley Edelen is thriving as SIU's libero. She has 56 assists and 390 digs, more than doubling her career totals in both categories. Edelen came into her senior campaign with 24 assists and 352 digs. The Louisville, Ky. native is now eight digs shy of 750 for her career.
Pair of aces
Ashley Edelen tied a career-best with two service aces against the Ramblers. It is the third time this season that she has recorded a pair of aces.
Season-high for Aces
SIU finished with a season-high 10 aces against Loyola with five Salukis with at least one ace. It marked the first time Southern has recorded 10-plus aces since Aug. 27, 2016 at IUPUI.
54th Career Double-Double
Andrea Estrada recorded her 54th career double-double, as she led the Salukis against Loyola with 11 kills and added 10 digs. Her 54th double-double ties her with Meg Viggars for the third-most in program history. Kristie Kemner holds the school-record with 60.
Kill No. 1000
Abby Barrow recorded her 1,000th career kill in the third set of Monday night's match against Loyola. She is just the 15th Saluki to record 1,000 career kills, and is one of nine in the MVC to have reached the milestone.
Two or more aces
Barrow recorded three aces against Loyola, which marked the fifth time this season that Barrow has tallied at least two aces. She accomplished that feat only twice coming into her senior season.
10-plus digs
Barrow talloed a team-high 15 digs against Loyola on Oct. 30. It marked the 10th time this season that she has reached double figures in the category.
12 shy of 700
Nellie Fredriksson is 12 kills shy of 700 for her career. The Angelholm, Sweden native has an active streak of eight-straight matches with at least five kills.

Serving Specialist
Alison Thomas has played in three-straight matches for the first time in her young Saluki career, subbing in to serve against Indiana State, Evansville and Loyola. In all three matches Thomas has recorded at least one ace, and she added a career-best two digs vs. Loyola.
1,300 career dig
In SIU's 3-1 win over Indiana State on Oct. 27, Andrea Estrada recorded her 1,300 career dig. She joins Kristie Kemner (1999-02) and Jennifer Berwanger (2006-10) as the the only three Salukis in program history with 1,300 kills/1,300 digs.
1,000 career kills/1,000 digs

Hitting Quicks
