
Women's tennis takes on Austin Peay State in first home match

CARBONDALE, ILL. - The Southern Illinois University women's tennis team plays their first home match of 2017 today against Austin Peay State. The Salukis enter the match with a record of 0-4.
Coming into today's match SIU has faced tough competition. The Dawgs started off their season against Arkansas University and then not even 24 hours later Eastern Illinois University. This past weekend SIU went to Kentucky to play Central Arkansas and Murray State. They almost knocked off Central Arkansas in the neutral site match, being tied up 3-3 with one singles match to finish, but later on fell, 4-3.Â
Today's match is the first home match of 2017 for SIU. Last season SIU went 7-1 on their home courts, their only loss coming form their match against Central Arkansas, 4-2, on Feb. 20. The team is scheduled to play today's match indoors at the sports blast, which is located behind the mall and next to Carbondale High School.Â
Austin Peay comes to Carbondale with a 1-1 record, their only win came against Missouri Valley Conference opponent, the University of Evansville.Â
Tonight's match will start at 5:30 p.m.
