MADISON, Wis. - Southern Illinois Men's Golf wrapped up the Badger Invitational Tuesday, finishing 13th out of 16 teams. They finished with a score of 903 (+39), 48 strokes behind tournament champion Northern Illinois.
Head Coach Justin Fetcho offered some thoughts on a disappointing weekend for the Salukis.
"We did not perform to our abilities, we were unable to replicate what we do at practice into the competition," Fetcho said. "We have to become more comfortable at home if we want to be able to perform on the road."
Anthony De Schutter led the Salukis, tying for 17th and finishing with a score of 217 (+1). He got off to a hot start, shooting 71 (-1) in the first two rounds, and finished the tournament with a score of 75 (+3) in round three.
Here's how the rest of the Salukis finished at the Badger Invitational:
- Oliver Ulrich: T-45th (+9, 225)
- Leon Heitz: T-77th (+17, 233)
- Frank Bellino: T-80th (+20, 236)
- Lucas Lasley: T-84th (+22, 238)
"We do not have a lot of experience on our team when it comes to competing in major D1 events," Fetcho said. "We have to learn and grow from this experience and become better in the long run."
