LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - Kayla Sayyalinh shot 70 and 71 in the final two rounds of the Clover Cup as Southern Illinois Women's Golf wrapped up play Wednesday in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Sayyalinh's low round of 70 is the lowest by a Saluki this season, which tied for 11th in the 66-golfer field.
Head Coach Rory Weinfurther was impressed with Sayyalinh's approach throughout the tournament.
"All around her game was good and she hit really good landing spots on the course," Weinfurther said. "She was very determined to make birdies this week and stayed patient and calm throughout the round to perform the way she did."
Here is how the Saluki golfers fared:
While the tournament presented some challenges, Weinfurther believes that the high level of competition will serve the team well as it enters the stretch run.
"I think we learned to take advantage of scoreable holes when we can and grind it out on some of those harder holes,"Â Weinfurther said. "We may not have had a great first round but we weren't far off from some of the other teams in terms of score which is a good start for us as we enter our last two tournaments before conference."
