FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Today marks the start of the Men's NCAA Championships, and Southern Illinois will be represented at the event by Alex Santiago, who will participate in three events between Thursday and Saturday.

Last Time Out
Santiago last competed at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships from February 19-22, where SIU came in second place at the event.
As for Santiago's performance, he reeled in six gold medals, doing so in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard freestyle, and as part of the 400-yard free relay, 400-yard medley relay, and 200-yard medley relay teams. Santiago was also a part of eight record-breaking performances.
Thanks to his accomplishments at the MVC Championships and throughout the rest of his senior season, Santiago was named MVC Swimmer of the Year following the Championships conclusion.
Schedule of Events
Santiago will be competing in three events at the Men's NCAA Championships. First up is the 50-yard freestyle on Thursday, March 27. On Friday, March 28, he will be in the 100-yard butterfly event, and then his trip will conclude with the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday.
Prelims are at 10 a.m. PST every day, and if Santiago were to make any finals, those are set for 6:03 a.m. PST.
