HARDIN, KY. - The Southern Illinois University women's tennis team faced University of Central Arkansas and Murray State over the weekend. SIU fell to UCA, 4-3, then lost to MSU, 5-2.

Xiwei Cai and Tereza Klocova followed Cordero's footsteps, winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to give the Salukis an edge. However, SIU lost the remaining three matches, giving UCA a come from behind victory, 4-3.Â
Next on the docket were the racers from Murray State. The match opened up similar to the UCA match, very competitive in double play. This time around SIU came out on top in No. 1 doubles, getting the 6-3 victory. The doubles point was eventually won by MSU after two heart breaking losses at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots for SIU. The duo of Klocova and Polina Dozortseva made a late charge in the No. 3 match, but fell 7-5.
The Salukis went into singles play trailing, 1-0. MSU ballooned their lead out to three after picking up wins at the No. 4 an No. 3 spots. SIU responded with two wins of their own from Athena Chrysanthou and Polina Dozortseva, to keep Southern alive. The late push proved to be to late, as the Racers won the last two single matches to seal the match. The loss moved SIU's record to 0-4.
"We battled, but were just not there yet," head coach Audra Anderson said. " We are better than three weeks ago, but we still have to make improvements. These matches were about making adjustments, and our opponents adjusted better than we did."
