Salukis Wrap Purdue Invitational on a High Note

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois wrapped up the final day of the Purdue Invitational with multiple Salukis posting strong performances .
Scoring points for the women was Celia Pulido finishing 4th in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:57.06, Olivia Herron finishing 5th in the 200 Breastroke with a time of 2:13.99, Tamara De La Torre finishing 10th in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:02.33.
Scoring points for the men was Ruard Van Renen finishing 1st in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:42.68, Alex Santiago finishing 11th in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 44.59, Jack Khrypunov finishing 2nd in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:44.21, and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay of Terentiev, Van Renen, Santiago, and Czuvarzski finishing 3rd with a time of 2:55.93.

"This was a tremendously successful weekend for the small group of Saluki swimmers we brought to West Lafayette. We got the chance to compete against very high quality teams, many of which will be in contention for NCAA team rankings in March. To come away with many lifetime bests, multiple school records, and two individual wins puts us in a great spot heading into the second half of the season.
